The Nanoscale Function Group, University College Dublin, and Asylum Research are pleased to sponsor the 2008 AFM Forum and Workshop. The Forum is organized for scientists to share and exchange their cutting-edge research being carried out in both materials and life sciences. The instrument workshops are designed so attendees can "ask an expert" and receive tips and tricks while receiving instruction on the AFM. The Forum is an ideal venue for novice and veteran AFM researchers as well as those looking to enter the field.
Abstract submissions are currently being accepted from all AFM users and are due by 24thOctober (see more below).
The »Forum will be held 20-21 November 2008 at University College Dublin, Ireland in the Conway Institute of Biomolecular and Biomedical Research.
Thursday, 20th November
Friday, 21st November
The lecture sessions include invited and submitted talks from some of the leading AFM researchers in their field. Invited speakers include:
| Name | Institute | Talk |
| Lyuba Belova | KTH Royal Institute ofTechnology, Sweden | To be announced |
| Sonia Contera | University of Oxford, UK | AFM Reveals the Role of Hydration and Ion Binding in Membrane Protein and DNA Function and Dynamics |
| Jason Cleveland | Asylum Research USA | To be announced |
| PatrickGunning | Institute of Food Research, UK | Mapping Specific Adhesive Interactions on Living Human Intestinal Epithelial Cells with Atomic Force Microscopy |
| Philip Moriarty | University of Nottingham, UK | Patterns and Pathways in Self-Organised Nanoparticle Assemblies |

The Forum will be accepting submissions for both lectures and posters. Abstracts may be submitted »on-line. Submissions are due no later than 24th October, 2008. Acceptance for abstract submissions will be announced Oct. 31. Prizes will be awarded for the three top posters. The final program will be posted on the website in early November.
Applications Scientists will instruct small groups of three researchers on a specific AFM topic. Instruction will be carried out on the MFP-3D™ AFM. Attendees may sign up for two workshop topics.
Tentative topics include:
Please indicate the topics that you are interested in when registering. A final schedule of workshop sessions will be sent to all registrants at the end of October so each may select the specific date and time of the workshops they wish to participate in. Note that workshop topics listed above may change based upon demand.
