Workshops

Atomic force microscopy of Biological Interfaces

From the model membrane to the microbial cells
23-24 October 2008, NANCY

Scope of the Workshop

Scanning Probe Microscopy plays an important role in modern biophysical and life sciences research. Biological interfaces are of particular importance in many aspects, and are subject to specific investigations with AFM technology. With this workshop we want to facilitate a fruitful dialoque between experts in the field and novice or less experienced researchers. With the scheduled hands-on equipment workshop sessions both aspects of AFM operation will be covered: sample preparation and imaging.

Venue and Schedule

The Workshop will be held at the LCPME Laboratory of Physical Chemistry and Microbiology for the Environment, Nancy University, CNRS, 405 rue de Vandoeuvre- 54600 Villers-lès-Nancy, France.

October 23

  • Registration, Welcome, Invited Talks. Participant's Talks. See the conference program for details.

  • Dr. Fabien Gaboriaud, Nancy University
  • Dr. Yves Dufrêne, University Louvain
  • Dr. Csilla Gergely, Montpellier University
  • Dr. Thomas Gutsmann, Research Center Borstel
  • Dr. Miklós Kellermayer, University of Pecs

Hands-on Equipment Workshop

During both days of the Workshop hands-on equipment workshops with the Asylum Research MFP-3D™ AFM Systems will take place. To keep the hands-on sessions effective, the number of participants is limited. Hands-on Workshops full; no more registration.

Topics include:

  • Closed Fluid Cell Operation
  • Fluorescence and optical/AFM image overlay
  • AC mode operation, tricks and tips
  • Live Cell imaging

Oral and Poster Presentations

We invite participants to submit posters or oral presentations of 15 min duration, including a brief discussion. Please email your title and abstract no later than by September 15th to workshop@atomicforce.de.
